Our Story
Lazy Backpacker began in 2021, inspired by weeks spent outdoors on the John Muir Trail.
A few years later, that idea took real shape on a multi-day family backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevada. While sitting on a granite ridge above Middle Lake at Loch Leven, and sharing meals with my 14 month old daughter, something became clear: the food we bring along should be just as thoughtful as the adventures themselves. Convenient, yes—but also gentle, nourishing, and made from ingredients you feel good about eating.
Like many people, we relied on familiar freeze-dried meals. They work. But between managing a stove, waiting on boiling water, and keeping up with camp life, it felt like there had to be an easier way—meals that were just as convenient, without the extra steps.
Lazy Backpacker was built around that idea: remove what isn’t needed, keep what matters most.
Our meals are designed to be:
• Nutritious and made with real ingredients
• Lower in sodium and easy on the stomach
• Simple enough to share with the whole family
• Ready with cold water—no stove required
Whether you’re hiking, camping, traveling, or just looking for an easy, satisfying meal on the go, Lazy Backpacker is here to make mealtime effortless—so you can spend less time preparing food and more time enjoying where you are.
Because simplifying mealtime means more time for the things that matter.
Lazy Backpacker — Lazy never tasted so good.
