What began as an ironic name while thru-hiking the John Muir Trail in 2021 became something much more personal when we backpacked through the Sierra Nevada with our one-year-old daughter. Keeping up with a toddler on the trail was hard enough. Spending extra time firing up a stove for meals we weren't excited to eat, let alone feed our daughter, made us realize there had to be a better way.

That journey, along with countless adventures throughout the Lake Tahoe Basin, inspired us to found Lazy Backpacker in Truckee, California.
